RECOGNITION OF GOOD PRACTICE AND CONTRIBUTION TO RESEARCH:
Recently LUOS has partnered with two university research projects: one with University College London on Greener living and LUOS’s impact, and the other an Acoustic Biodiversity Survey with Durham University
In 2016 People’s Health Trust recognised the significant achievements of LUOS’s Well Park Lane healthy living and community leadership programme of 19 mini projects
In 2016, local Tottenham resident, Omeed Laksari-Adams’ paper examined the question ‘Utopia in Tottenham? A case study of Living Under One Sun’ whilst at the University of Newcastle.
LUOS’s contributions to research and development on urban regeneration and sustainable development have been recognised by Durham University, University College London, London School of Economics, and the ESRC Cities Research Programme (as a keynote speaker at its 2014 national research funding conference).
Our resident botanist and volunteer carried out detailed collaborative work with Professor Clive Stace, as part of on a new book publication Alien Plants (Stace, C.)which features LUOS and was published in November 2015 as the latest in Collins’ long-running New Naturalist series
In 2014 Pedro Coias completed an MA research dissertation ‘From the Ground to the Sun: An Ethnographic study of Living Under One Sun’s Community Allotment’ for the University of Durham Department of Anthropology, Energy and Society.
LUOS Home from Hospital service in 2014/15 received widespread recognition from service providers and resident service users
Haringey’s 2012 Carbon Commission Report with New Economics Foundation, cited LUOS as good practice in Food Growing, Healthy Eating & Community Leadership.
Haringey Council Transport Forum recognised achievements of LUOS’s Personal Travel Planning through recommendations for changes in policy.
LUOS has also made a short 5 minute film ‘Doors’, made by local residents with University College London, and presented at the London Documentary Film Festival. The film can be viewed through this link
